Introducing Torisoba Nanase@Asoke

Nanase is a ramen spot that’s been making waves in Bangkok with its bold flavors and authentic Japanese soul. With four locations across the city, I finally had the chance to try the Asok branch — conveniently located just a short walk from MRT Sukhumvit (Exit 1) and BTS Asok station.

Surprisingly, Nanase hails from my hometown — Chiba City, Japan. And yet, I’d never seen or even heard of it back home! Bangkok is where I discovered it for the first time.

Asok Branch: Compact, Hot, and Full of Character

The Asok location is tucked along the bustling Asok Montri Road. Unlike the Thonglor branch, which operates without air conditioning, this one does have AC — though to be honest, it still gets pretty warm inside. If you’re visiting during Bangkok’s brutal hot season (March–April), be prepared to break a sweat, even with the AC running.

Inside the Restaurant

Inside, seating is extremely limited — just six counter seats. There are about eight additional seats outside, but with Bangkok’s heat and unpredictable rain, they’re not exactly the go-to choice. Given the size and open-kitchen setup, the interior tends to get toasty, especially during peak hours.

Today’s Order

Miso Ramen Special

Don’t let the name fool you. Despite being called “Torisoba” (literally “chicken soba”), it’s 100% ramen. The shop’s signature bowl is the Torisoba Special, but on this visit, I leveled up with the Miso Ramen Special.

This bowl packs a punch — combining Nanase’s rich, concentrated chicken-based broth with the added depth of miso. It’s hearty, savory, and loaded with minced pork, making it a meat lover’s dream. The “Special” version comes with a jammy marinated egg, chashu pork slices, and chicken meatballs — a serious upgrade worth the price.

Portion-wise, it’s not overly large, making it perfect for a light meal or a late-night craving. If you’re into rich, umami-forward ramen, this one’s for you.

Topping Kikurage

Don’t Miss the Kikurage (Wood Ear Mushrooms)

I’m a huge fan of kikurage, and Nanase doesn’t disappoint. The mushrooms are finely chopped — perhaps a bit too finely for my taste, as I prefer a crunchier texture — but there’s plenty of it. At just 25 THB, it’s a great-value topping that complements the ramen beautifully.

Final Thoughts

Nanase hits the sweet spot for ramen lovers looking for deep, meaty flavors at a reasonable price. The Asok branch may be small and steamy, but what it lacks in comfort, it more than makes up for in taste.
